Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy can be defined as ” The treatment of disease, injury or deformity through physical methods such as massage, heat treatment and exercise.”

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy attempts to treat the diseases, or injuries that limit the abilities to move and perform activities during day to day life. Veterinary physiotherapy attempts to replicate this especially for animals. As a science based profession, it takes a holistic approach by providing a functional assessment for each individual animal following a veterinary referral. Physiotherapy for animals can be used in conjunction to veterinary advice to help in the treatment or management of many conditions. Most importantly it can assist rehabilitation of the animal, aiming to reduce pain while improving movement, and thereby help to restore normal muscle control and function. Physiotherapy is also useful for performance improvement in animal athletes and can help reduce the risk of injuries while boosting athletic performance.
